You're talking about my proportions etc. in general (irrespective of what size of caps we're talking about) which -I hope- are like that for a reason (just like I make my tittles "too big"). Here I'm interesting in figuring out if smallcaps are in fact better (or at least not worse) when they have the same proportions as the fullcaps. Maybe I should use a different font, something mainstream that would allow people to focus on this question. Let me see...

That's certainly true in the case of old-school smallcaps that are at x-height (or only slightly taller). The way many people (including myself) like to make smallcaps these days is quite a bit higher than that, which makes confusion with the lc moot. Of course this doesn't work when the x-height is too big (not leaving enough room between it and the fullcap height) but to me such fonts aren't really text fonts.
it is almost like you need three sets of small caps.
